History of the Department

Department of Engineering and rescue machinery is one of the oldest departments of the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine. It is a "successor" of fire-technical cycle - main cycle of Kharkiv Fire-Technical School.

Along with the reorganization into the Institute of Fire Safety MOE of Ukraine on the base of fire-technical cycle were created two departments - Department of fire equipment and Department of fire tactics. In 2004, due to increased areas of training, passed the new reorganization of the institution and the department called "Department of Fire protection and rescue equipment". In 2006 the department received its present name - Department of Engineering and rescue machinery.

Currently, the Department is a leading division of the Faculty of operational and rescue forces of NUCDU in training future professionals of SES.

The department is headed by Ph.D., associate professor, Major of civil protection service Andrey Kalinovskiy.
Research and teaching staff of the department has 10 employees, including 2 doctors of science and 7 Ph.D.

The aim of the department is to provide high quality and professional training in accordance with industry standards of higher education, improve teaching subjects and modernization of the educational process in accordance with the doctrine of national education, strengthening and promoting fruitful collaboration with other universities departments, including overseas.
