Scientific activities

Besides the basic activity - the teaching, Department has great activity of research and development work. Staff of Department is directly involved to the scientific community of cadets and students.

The main areas of research should note the following:

   - development of new models of pulse fire extinguishing devices adapted to extinguish large fires, including gas fountains;
   - development of methods and hardware diagnostics and prediction of residual life of centrifugal fire pumps through the study of their vibration characteristics;
   - development of technology for the safe transportation of hazardous goods on location to the point of disposal;
   - development of new equipment for fire grassroots forest fires;
   - development of amphibious vehicles for water crossings and conducting rescue operations on water;
   - development of new illustrative examples to study disciplines.

So, today at the department, together with colleagues from Donetsk National University, developed setting pulse action to extinguish gas flares and conducted its experimental testing. Install able to apply for a pulse fire extinguishing water and aqueous solutions with a speed of 1500 m/s, allowing the model to extinguish gas flowing at a distance of 25-30 m.

Since 2010, as part of their PhD thesis at the Department developed a pilot plant operating the pump compartment fire truck, which is analogous to modern fire vehicles based on KAMAZ. At present, the scientific community of students and students led by members of the Department is developing a non-propelled trolley (trailer) to transport hazardous cargo on location to the point of disposal. Given the task of fire units in the department developed the design and implemented hovercraft.

Hovercraft is amphibious (able to move in the same way and land) boat, which has a system to create high pressure area under the body (air cushion). The design allows the hovercraft to rise above the height of the movement to flex and move the fence touching the surface of the lower edges of the flexible enclosure.

The vessel can be used for travel on rough terrain, land, water, snow and ice, to overcome the shallow, flat-out on the coast, on arrival tightening hills with a slope of 10-12 degrees and short slopes up to 40 degrees. Designed to deliver personnel to the location of the emergency and evacuation to places of emergency.
